Today is exactly 1 week after our Banana Nite. The Nite was exciting and fun although we only had 2 days of preparation.
People who turned up on the 1st day were Alvin, who is the Chairman for this event, Kelvin Lee, Wern Loong, Ivy, Yvonne, Winnie (the Har’s Sisters), Jennifer, Megan, Xiao Juan, Tiffany, Jou Ning, Fook Veng, J-Cyn and I. Alvin lectured us on our roles for the Nite. Later, we went to inspect the places for every station in 3 cars. When we were in the car, I remembered that Winnie said something like “how nice if Daryl, Chia Ching, Alan and others were in Sitiawan and can plan the Banana Nite together with us.” Something really funny happened when we were back in church. All of us took out our handphones and in 3 counts “1,2,3″, our time was set to the same time. There is reason why we did this. Anyway, I think we are still having the same time till now…:) Oh ya, before I forget, I chatted with Daryl the night before and he asked me whetherthere will be any special event like Banana Nite when he comes back end of June and he said that he will be very happy to take photographs with his G7. By the way Daryl, we had just discovered 7 photographers who were the facilitators for each group and they are Fook Veng, Winnie Ling, Tiffany, Jou Ning, Melissa, Yvonne, Ivy and J-Cyn. So, I think they will be very helpful though…:)
Second day, which is the morning of Banana Nite, before I went to church, I received a text message from Pearly saying that she was having fever and asked me to find a replacement. I did not tell Alvin because I knew that she definitely will come when it’s all about fun on the Nite. So, I carried on with all the necessary preparation. When it comes to inflating the swimming pools, we really don’t know how, use petrol station’s air pump?not suitable, use bicycle shop’s air pump?also not suitable. Then how? Suddenly, my shop’s air pump came into my mind then Wern Loong drove Fook Veng, Ivy, Winnie and I together with the pools of cause, to my shop while Alvin, Andrea, Kelvin, Jennifer, Yvonne, Megan and J-Cyn stayed in the church to put up the decoration. It took us just few minutes to inflate the pools, but few months back during telematch, me and Hwa Wei took few hours by using bicycle pump, eventually the bicycle pump’s rubber worn out. We brought the pools in a Wira but brought them back to church in an Unser, So, you can imagine how big is the pools.

Okay, back in the church, we made the one and only one Banana Nite’s banner. Initially, we wanted to place the bannerat a higher level but the wind was so strong till the banner almost flew away at one point.

Holding tight to the banner….
So, we had no choice and place it as shown in the photo below.
Do you see the ‘W’ at the right hand corner of the banner? It’s Winnie’s signature. Does it look like something else?..:P
At around 1pm, I received good news from Pearly saying she was feeling better and can’t wait to join us on the Nite. So, I was kinda relieved because I didn’t find any replacement and wonder how am I going to handle a station all on my own.
All the facilitators and station coordinators were to be present in the church by 5.30pm. It started to rain when I was on my way to church. We gathered in the creche, sang 1 song, ate burger and prayed for the Nite. A moment later, the rain eventually stopped. I know that God is very gracious because He knows that the youths need to walk from 1 station to another, so He poured down the rain to make the air more cooling. Then, we prepared all our stuff and there we go, off to our respective stations at 7pm. Youths were coming in and after dividing them into 7 groups and some briefing from Alvin, the Banana Nite was officiated.
Here we go, the 1st station is ‘rubber band star’ handled by Andrea and Evelyn. This is a game where a group of youths is required to use rafia string tied around their waist and move around to form a star using the same concept as rubber bands.
How to form a star wor???

Here…here…there…there…no…no…yessss
Second game is called ‘Lame Game’. It was handled by Jennifer and Tracey. This game is all about finishing up all the foods and drinks given while playing ‘Old Maids’ card.

Can anyone teach me how to play???

Emmm….yummy
Mark handled the 3rd game, which is ‘Stranger Yum Cha’. Youths are required to buy a glass of ‘ba la bing’ each and chat with a stranger and snap a photo with them while doing funny post.

I hope the lady didn’t get a shocked…:P
I named the 4th game as ‘Water Please’. It’s handled by Winnie Har and Xiao Juan. The name of this game tells it all. The youths are required to ask water from the people staying in the taman to fill up the swimming pool.

nice photo

Pour carefully…Don’t waste water please
Here comes my station, 5th game, it’s called ‘Tasting Formula’. I blended the banana and poured it into 30 cups. Then, Alvin and Pearly added special ingredients like wasabi, vinegar, chilli, and many more into those cups. In the explanation part, I told the youths that we played this game because ‘Secret Recipe’ wanted to introduce 30 new ’special banana juice’ so they need our help to do so…The youths need to match 10 correct answers before move on to the next station.

What flavour is this???

that’s me making up stories…hahaha…To tell you the truth, actually there is no such thing, so please don’t go to ‘Secret Recipe’ and ask for ’special banana juice’…
‘Photoshoot’ is the 6th game. Megan and Kelvin handled this game. It’s about youths posing in front of the camera with random emotions like sad, cool, cute and others while holding a snake in his/her hand. Initially, we wanted to use a frog but can’t get. Kelvin’s dad even went to Teluk Intan to look for one.

Kiaos Tan with 2 snakes
Last but not least. The 7th game is ‘Banana Ice-Blended’. Aunty Pauline and Aunty Paula handled this game. In this game, youths are required to roll a dice and it will determined what exotic food will be added into the ice-blended. The exotic food includes chicken liver and other pigs’ organs.

Banana Ice-Blended

Hold on!!! Wern Loong…There is a vomit bucket…hahaha
That’s all for the game. We had satay, sandwitches and extremely nice agar-agar for supper…

satay!!! the satay is nice…

Everyone is eating happily but Pearly and I are still washing cups in the kitchen

Who were not in this photo??? Alvin and Yvonne were taking this photograph…me and Pearly were not finish with those cups…Luckily there were still plenty of food after we finished washing….haha….By the way, I had too much of satay till can’t sleep…
That’s the end of Banana Nite 2008.
